Australian Decimal Stamps | Gutter Strips & Pairs

Gutter strips are the section of paper between panes on a larger stamp sheet with a strip of stamps above and below this section.  In Australia the gutter is often illustrated with decorative items and text related to the stamp issue or may just contain printer colour bars or in some cases be completely blank.  Where the full strip contains a complete design they will generally be collected as a complete strip (including the strip of stamps on either side) and in other cases where different stamp designs appear on opposite sides of the strip collecting as a pair or block is common with illustrated albums such as Seven Seas containing spaces for these.
